stone’s throw (drawings)

after i’d finished the paintings and most of the work related to my grandmother’s stones, i decided to revisit them, working mostly as if a still life painter, simply looking at a stone and rendering it (in various forms) in watercolor and inks on paper (11″ x 9″). the idea was to make 10 watercolors of each stone consecutively, forcing the looking and the responding to be totally between myself and the object, with no interference from systems or scores. they were done with watercolor, sumi ink, pencil and some with collage. also, some of them were cut up and reconfigured. here is a sample of the resulting 100 works.
