i speak with a hole through my head

96 page softcover book
edition: 500
new plastic paper

a series of texts originally spoken into a micro-cassette recorder, improvised, while driving to and from my studio in 1998. nothing was written down or planned before i pressed ‘record’, and the entire work was printed unedited and in the order spoken. the periods mark the ending of each recorded segment. some of the pieces are responses to things seen, some are simply about speaking, and some are more reflective of non-word sounds. i would suggest not only a mental reading, but a verbal one as well.

the drawings are from a series of 80 that were made while my car was stopped at red lights. i began each drawing as the light turned red and i ended as the light turned green. the drawings were presented in the book, actual size.

there was also a limited edition that included an original red light drawing from the book.
