sculpture became part of my practice around 1995, making only a few pieces a year, although by 1997 it had a significant presence in my exhibitions. sculpture allowed my interest in “building” and working with units – allowing my interest in architecture to move the flat forms of the paintings into physical forms; and thus, sculpture offered me a way to use articulate my own language in a different voice… most of these early sculpture were made out of wood and painted with acrylic paint and usually adding a layer of bees wax or polyurethane on top.
